10 years ago, Sylvain Leroux patented the “qromatica,” a fully functional chromatic version of the Fula flute, the traditional flute from Guinea, West Africa, that is famous for its evocative sound and stunning flute/voice effects. His innovation opens the instrument to the world as its powerfully expressive qualities can now be applied to “fula-ize” music of all idioms, old and new.

In this new album titled, like the new flute, “Qromatica”, and in his warm and intimate style, Leroux takes the instrument on a tour of possibilities from Africa to Monk, through India and Bach, continuing on the path on which he engaged in his previous, critically acclaimed, release “Quatuor Creole”.
